It is becoming a great need to have a computer than it is similar to drink water. This specially applies for those persons who are supposedly students and those real teachers or pobresores as they are called in this wonderful country. Students need to do many homework assignments and it is a need to have a computer and another very important tool called INTERNET, and the teachers really need those two important tools to make the TEACHING-LEARNING-PROCESS more interactive and meaningful for the students.
I will talk about some basic internet skills you have to
manage in order to make the learning process easier. First, you have to know
how to use a a browser such as internet explorer and a search engine such as Google
because sometimes the teacher asks to investigate any topic and if you do not
know about how using internet, you have to ask others how to do it and it is a
problem. You also need to know how to download
files or save the target of specific urls, upload files by using simple web
forms, send and receive email with attachments, save email attachments on your
hard drive, use browser helper programs like adobe acrobat reader and Microsoft
media player. Those internet skills are the most important when using a
computer and looking for information.
you also need to know some useful computer skills that help
you to develop a homework for example if the teacher asks you to make a report,
you have to know how to use a word processor, how to paste text from a web page
or a word processor document into an email, how to print materials from the
internet or from other computer documents, how to save a document as various
file types, how to create and manage files and folders on your computer, how to
find files on your hard drive and so many others. All this is related with the
basis of computing and you can see they are very useful for any work you want
to develop by using a computer. Sometimes it is very difficult to manage a mouse
but it is a matter of practicing more
pobresores, man I Loled so much ^^ - I completely share your belief of computers/internet currently being a fundamental part of the modern learning process and the ones involved in it. Oh, one comment is that in my case, contrary to what some may believe, I only had a computer at home until I was a teenager, and internet until I started my university studies. It is surprising that like you mention, a lot of kids nowadays have their own devices w/internet :O
ReplyDeleteprobresores hahahh what do you mean???? actually what you have said is totally true, nowadays it is very common to see how a child of 7 years or even less years old knows at least to turn on a computer. something that may be when we were those years, we were not able to, so that we can see how important is for a teacher to know how to use a computer and internet as well.

ReplyDeleteAs you said that nowadays every person has at least a computer, I think that teachers must take advantage of it because students spend hours surfing in the Internet without doing something productive, so teachers must implement lessons, classes and tasks in students's real world, which is facebook.
ReplyDeleteMost of students don't like to open the books, but they enjoy to turn their computers on, so make them use it to study without making them feel under pressure.
You are right. What I did in the Saturday level classes is to create a new Facebook account only for students to send me some homework I assign. In that way, they are maybe chatting and they are also working on their homework

ReplyDeleteIt´s pretty nice the way you described our necessity for computers because they are truly becoming as necessary as drinking water. We drink water to survive in life, and we use computers to survive in our jobs and studies due to computers have become pretty useful tools for us.
